Tomato blight has now been confirmed on the outdoor tomato plants on many plots. The plants have black stems and the fruits are brown in appearance. Some plots do have tomato plants that are showing no signs of blight which may be due to a blight resistant variety being grown.
The combination of high temperatures and wet, humid conditions promote its rapid spread and this year we have definitely had that. Let’s hope next year is a better one for tomato growing outdoors.
