The south side of the site was lacking sunlight during the growing months, so plot holders got together during the winter to prune and clear offending trees, the path has been widened and leveled for trolley access and at last the we have started to develop the Bluebell Wood biodiversity area.

Nelson awoke mid March
This was his Winter bedding
He came to me straight away

Long drink
First meal of the year
A pair of Mallards took up residence on our pond

A pair nested last year and laid one egg but they seem to leave when plot holders arrive in the spring
Daff and Don
Always alert as the Foxes regularly drink at our pond

If anyone finds anything interesting on their plot nature wise please inform me as we record all things found on Tredegar in the education hut and if possible put them on display for visiting groups of children. This is how we manage to receive funding for our special site and give children of Dartford an insight into nature and how a lot of basic food items are grown. One of our greatest successes is letting children dig potatoes ,if anyone wishes to visit our bio diversity site please contact me  I think a lot of you will be surprised at the amount of natural activity on the allotments and how we can work together with nature to keep Tredegar special.

image001Despite the weather this years Halloween Fright Night was the best ever with an estimate of around about 80 -100 people attending , volunteers worked hard in adverse weather conditions all week to make the site look so good especially Tony Thorne who despite his flu made the Community Barn so accommodating and weather proof..

Foxes Return

As previously posted on this site our Fox cubs this year were poisoned by something and all three of this years litter died and the resident adults seem to leave the site.As a result the bottom of the site became overrun with Rabbits but three large healthy Foxes have been observed behind the biodiversity garden, I think these may be the cubs from last year as I have noticed they have the same characteristics and behavior patterns that I observed whilst filming them last year
